As the Independence Day holiday approaches, many of us begin thinking about holidays past. The 4th of July is such a special remembrance for us as a nation; a wonderful time for many families to gather together and celebrate our nation’s birthday. Fireworks, grills, swimming and eating- it all comes together on the Fourth.
As a child, my memories of the Fourth are forever associated with the season’s first taste of watermelon. Cutting the watermelon on my grandmother’s back porch- and then biting into that cold sweet fruit, it was a delightful holiday tradition for my family.
Spitting seeds at my cousins and getting sticky hands and feet was part of the fun!
This year, as you gather with family and friends make sure you have the sweetest and best melons to cut on your back porch! Stop by Pepper Place Saturday Market and pick up an Alabama watermelon to share with those you love. Make a stop at the market your new family tradition. And as always, we appreciate your support of the Market. So come on down and ‘get fresh with us!’ Rain or shine from 7am- 12 Noon!
