No musician has played The Red Cat more than Becca Loebe.  And now, fresh off success on NBC’s The Voice, she returns for yet another night of fun.

Rebecca Loebe is a laid-back award-winning indie-folk singer from Atlanta, GA. Since quitting her job as a full-time recording studio engineer in

2006, she has performed 100+ shows per year at colleges, coffeehouses and theaters in over 30 states of the US and in Europe. She has garnered rave reviews for her high-energy performances, weaving together skillful, emotional songwriting, folk storytelling and whimsical comedy for the ADHD generation.

In the May of 2009 she was honored as a winner at the Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Competition, and in 2010 her full length album ‘Mystery Prize’ spent over 2 months on both the US and European Americana Charts. In the UK, Mystery Prize received a 4-star review from Maverick
Magazine, which reported the “sophomore album sparkles and bubbles.” Ed Muitjens of Johnny’s Garden in The Netherlands wrote, “’Mystery Prize’ exhales originality and creativity.” Of Rebecca herself, TX music critic Jeanna Goodrich said, “Her voice instantly took my breath away; I could tell right from the start: Rebecca Loebe was born for this.”

Tatsuya Nakatani Brings Innovative Sound to a Meditative Space

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

Imagine being seated on a floor cushion, legs folded, in an austere and quiet space. Before you, an elaborate tower of shiny metal, consisting of gongs, cymbals and drums, stands in silent wait. A man enters with what looks like a violin bow and begins to run it across the edge of a gong.

What begins with a shy yawn of sound continuously builds into a frenetic symphony of percussion. It’s not a conventional concert, nor is it completely out of our aural sphere. Rather, the sounds of Tatsuya Nakatani reflect our modern world, echoing the sounds of our tonal landscape. Through his striking, worldly composition and improvisation, Nakatani takes the listener into a deeper place in the brain, into that portion of our mind that acts as a bridge between the imagination and the right here and now.

Nakatani will be performing this Friday, December 17th at The New Forest Center for Contemplative Living, a spiritual sanctuary in the midst of our urban center, right here at Pepper Place. Situated next to B-Metro, The New Forest is a spare space decorated by beautiful art and Chinese calligraphy, a space that is perfect for encapsulating a performance such as Nakatani’s.

Tatsuya Nakatani will be performing solo pieces as well as collaborative works with area musicians Andrew Dewar and Brad Davis.
